THE MASTERS LODGE - NAPIER

Situated in the dress circle of Napier's historic Bluff Hill homesteads, The Master's Lodge represents the ultimate in understated luxury. Discreetly tucked away in a private cul-de-sac, the Lodge enjoys panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Cape Kidnappers, Te Mata Peak and the Kahuranaki Ranges. Available to a maximum of four guests at a time, The Master's Lodge is a truly private and exclusive experience.

The Master’s Lodge is a small luxury lodge positioned in the 'Dress Circle' of Bluff Hill in the City of Napier with spectacular views over the blue Pacific Ocean.

This historically distinctive residence was the home of tobacco magnate Gerhard Husheer, Founder and Director of the National Tobacco Company. The residence was designed by famed Architect Louis Hay in the early 1930s when he also designed Napier’s most famous Art Deco building – the National Tobacco Company Building – and features original Art Deco and Art Nouveau furnishings, servant bell system and extensive leadlighting (stained glass) throughout.

The Lodge offers only Two Guest Suites with private ensuites. Each Suite overlooks Cape Kidnappers, the Art Deco City of Napier, the South Pacific Ocean and the Marine Parade. Named ‘Kidnappers’ and ‘Deco’, each suite reflects a major Hawke’s Bay attraction and includes art deco furnishings, damask cotton bed linens, goosedown duvets & pillows, walk-in wardrobes, extra towels & bathrobes, separate shower and original cast iron bathtub, “Seascape” toiletries, hair dryers, Sky-TV & video in the Solarium and in-suite on request, direct dial phones and modem ports.

The Lodge also offers a living room and cocktail lounge, formal dining room, solarium, superbly stocked wine cellar, drawing room, shady verandahs, beautifully maintained flower gardens in park-like grounds, off-street parking, and much, much more! The Lodge overlooks Cape Kidnappers, the Art Deco City of Napier, the South Pacific Ocean and the Marine Parade.

The beach, shops, restaurants, museums and central business district are all within a 10 minute walk from the Lodge.

Book the "Exclusive Use" of the Lodge and enjoy this gracious residence to the full. Savour a refreshing drink on the wide verandah, unwind with the sights and fragrances of the flower garden or linger in our small native bush inhabited by dancing fantails. It is tempting to speculate that the Puka, Punga and Puriri trees flourishing just outside are the very specimens recorded in the hand-written notes of Baron Husheer when he planted them in 1927.

After a day in the wilderness or on the Wine Trail, indulge in a luxurious Massage in the Solarium, and an intimate Gourmet Dinner served by candlelight in the Dining Room, on the Verandah or in the Garden. Our dinners are prepared by our own Chef and complemented by rare local wines from our extensive wine cellar. The highlight for every wine connoisseur staying at the Lodge is certainly the Dinner with the Winemaker. And, for the Art Deco enthusiast, we can arrange an Art Deco Experience to include a private tour in a vintage car of many of the Art Deco buildings in Napier, cocktails at a private club and a hosted dinner at the Lodge with your personal expert in Art Deco architecture and design.

After a refreshing sleep, awake to the sound of the ocean and the chorus of native birds in the bush & garden. Start your day with a delicious breakfast on the shady verandah, in the Garden or impressive Dining Room, and soak up the scenic splendour that matches the quality of the Lodge.
