Located on the highway to Milford Sound, Fiordland Lodge offers the discerning traveller style, comfort and privacy, yet is only five kilometers from the tourist township of Te Anau. On forty acres of land, Fiordland Lodge is set on a superb site with commanding views out across Lake Te Anau. This is a rural setting with rolling grass lands surrounding the Lodge, Lake Te Anau being a mere ten minute walk away. Across the lake to the west lie the mountains of Fiordland National Park, an area of over three million acres of untouched wilderness and part of the much larger South West New Zealand World Heritage Area. The Lodge's comfortable dining area serves excellent food coupled with superb wine from the cellar.
Sun dried and hand peeled New Zealand oregon logs feature throughout the building with exposed log beams and log trusses supporting sarked timber ceilings.
In the lounge, a lattice work of huge log trusses soar to over thirty-six feet above and surround a large open fire, clad with local river stone. This is a focus point where one can relax and reflect on the day's adventures and plan tomorrow's. The ten luxury guest rooms - one an executive suite with separate lounge area for private entertaining - look out across Lake Te Anau.
Each guest room is furnished with super king size beds and appointed private bathrooms.
Large solid timber tables are fitted out in the dining area where local cuisine is a feature of the menu. The dining area is complimented by the wine cellar from where the evenings wine can be chosen. The fully licensed bar features a solid fitch rimu timber bar top, a relaxing spot to enjoy complimentary pre dinner drinks and a great gathering place.
The conference room seating thirty and fitted out with audio and visual equipment is ideal for corporate retreats or special interest groups for which evening interpretation is available.
Fiordland Lodge features quiet areas where one can browse through the carefully chosen library or access the internet. A courtesy vehicle is available for access to Te Anau as required. Complementing the Fiordland Lodge's ten double guest rooms are two traditionally built log cabins, ideal for families, providing bed and breakfast.
The warm interiors feature extensive use of recycled native New Zealand timber.
Each cabin sleeps five and is self contained with a kitchen/dining area and private bathroom.
The log cabins are on our forty acre property just 5 kilometres north of the tourist township of Te Anau on Highway 94 to Milford Sound. Both log cabins are separate and private from the main lodge.
The cabins are on an elevated site with magnificent views to the northwest, across Lake Te Anau and the mountains of Fiordland National Park. To the north and east, views are out across rural farm land, with the mountains of northern Fiordland in the distance.
The two log cabins have been built in the traditional manner with hand peeled sun dried New Zealand Oregon logs. Interior finishing is with recycled native New Zealand timber for floors, ceilings, joinery and bench tops.
Each cabin is fitted with a quality queen-size bed downstairs, and on a mezzanine floor above one cabin has a twin room, and one has three single beds. These cabins are ideal for families. Private and serene, the Lodge is perfect for relaxation, or as a base for your Fiordland experience.
Excursions to Milford and Doubtful Sound depart from Te Anau township five kilometers from Fiordland Lodge, itself positioned on the highway to Milford Sound. And there is much more to do from Fiordland Lodge, rainbow and brown trout waters are everywhere with resident fishing guide available.
Escorted golf tours, horse riding, sea or lake kayaking, fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout, guided hiking, nature walks, alpine flower tours in the summer, bird watching, glow worm caves and special interest walks and guided hunting for red deer, chamois, thar, wild pig, goat and sheep.
